This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Medical Specialty Clinic - The Specialty Clinics cover a wide variety of Medicine specialties. The LPN provides care for Veterans with a variety of health disorders, with age ranges from young adult to geriatric. The LPN completes assigned duties and responsibilities which involve performing non-standard and specialized practical nursing activities, requiring broad work experience, and demonstrated skill sufficient to resolve a range of nursing problems Duties may include: Providing nursing expertise in preventative screening, managing clinic flow, and data collection. Performing simple diagnostic procedures such as bladder scanning, EKGS, prepare patients for dermatologic biopsies. Assist with minor procedures as needed depending on specialty. Assist Mohs surgery procedures as needed. Performing aspects of admission /discharge procedures as directed. Collecting patient data including observations of patient status (i.e. vital signs, oxygen saturation, medication reconciliation, etc.) Administering vaccines, and specialty injections as needed. Accurately reporting patient/client information. Recognizing subtle and significant changes in the patient in response to nursing care and communicating changes in condition/response to team. Promptly recognizing urgent or emergent patient care situations and effectively intervenes; seeks RN/provider assistance for those requiring higher-level intervention. Organizing/ prioritizing routine and non-routine nursing care activities Providing care to patients/clients appropriate to their cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation. Maintains appropriate boundaries in the nurse/ Veteran relationship by not obtaining personal gain at Veterans' expense and refrain from in appropriate involvement in the Veterans' personal relationships. May serve as a preceptor in orienting, educating, and training. Role model and is accountable to adherence to external reviewer standards, policies, procedures, standards of care, standards of practice, patient centered care guidelines, and cultural transformation. Accurately documenting and retrieving patient/clinical information using electronic medical records. Reports all discrepancies promptly to the RN. Identifies Veterans' needing immunizations and administers them as needed. Providing effective education to patients and/or family members in relation to common disease processes, medications, and/or prescribed diagnostic and/or treatment regimes, as directed. Adhering to standards of practice and safe technique in preparation and administration of medicine, documents administration in EHRM and observing patients for adverse effects from medication and reporting to team RN. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
