This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Identifies, distributes, and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level, and/or occupational specialization. Represents the team in dealings with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources (use of overtime or compensatory time) and secures needed information or decisions from the supervisor on major work problems and issues that arise. Processes specimens including CAP performance surveys, using equipment, instruments, or techniques that are necessary to prepare them for specific analysis; controls physical conditions; responds to time factors to ensure that the physiologic state of the specimen is maintained. Reviews that the technologist's evaluations and interpretations based on an analysis of the suitability of the specimen, the requirements of the requested test, the purpose of the analysis, the events of reactivity (e.g. test conditions, chemical reactions, instrument function), types and frequency of control procedures, correlation of the test results with other laboratory and/or patient data, and other similar factors. Facilitates team or unit processes by working in collaboration with team members to ensure tasks are completed and team priorities, goals, needs and achievements are coordinated with management. Prepares reports, develops policy and procedure, and maintains records and administrative information with supervisor. Develops procedures for new tests and modifies existing procedures or methods to resolve problems relative to complex and difficult testing situations. Prepares and presents information to supervisor. Maintains program and administrative reference materials, project files, and relevant background documents and makes available policies, procedures, and written instructions from the supervisor. Performs statistical analysis on quality control and quality assurance monitors. Maintains all quality control records and statistical data per regulatory guidelines. Accepts referrals of abnormal or unusual results and observations from lower-grade laboratory personnel. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of assorted regulatory agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, AABB, and OSHA. Performs other duties as assigned.
