This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Asheville VA Medical Center, Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service. The position serves as a Supply Technician, performing work comprising a wide range of systematized supply operations such as performing records functions in inventory, storage, cataloging, receipting, and control processes. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Dispense off-the-shelf inventory items to patients and post the items to the patients' 2319 transaction record screen. Verify eligibility through the prosthetic package before issuing the equipment to the patient (i.e. ensuring a consult for medical equipment has been submitted to the service and proper disability codes are entered into the veterans Prosthetics record). Reviews "stat" consults submitted to prosthetics and contacts the service that submitted to educate on Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) consult submittal process Deliver property to departments when received in PSAS and notates on the patient record of the status of the device. Notify Inventory Managers of items with low amounts prior to running out of items on the shelves. Mail out stock room orders as required. (i.e. Process consults for medical devices to be mailed from VA inventory to veterans' homes to include, picking, packaging, labeling, providing to mail the room, and posting to the veteran's medical record). Receives, opens, reviews, and distributes by function all incoming property from Logistics/Supply Chain Management Warehouse staff. Determines if the property should be brought to the immediate attention of the supervisor, what should be given to other members of the staff and what needs to be delivered. Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, policies, procedures or operations that require extended training and experience to perform a wide variety of interrelated or non- standard procedural assignments and to resolve a wide range of problems. Regularly review & monitor utilization of equipment from PSAS inventory & arrange for disposal of equipment condemned from inventory. Prepares the report of survey when non-expandable property is lost, damaged, or destroyed. Issue and/or deliver material to work center personnel or patients directly; contact customers, supply organizations, SCM, etc. to obtain material status information. Initiates procurement activities using a government Purchase Card in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. Ensures accurate reconciliation of purchase transactions, maintains comprehensive purchase records, and serves as an authorized Government Purchase Cardholder. Communicates effectively with internal and external vendors regarding purchase and delivery orders, manages the distribution and filing of purchase documentation, processes amendments to purchase orders, addresses vendor reclaims, responds to payment requests, resolves purchase disputes, and properly closes out each purchase order in accordance with Government Purchase Card regulations.
