About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Directorate of Surgery Orthopedic Service at Fort Carson, CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. Apply the full range of casts in routine (arm, hip, leg, shoulder and body cast) procedures. Assist in the application of specialized weight bearing casts for the treatment of femoral shaft fractures. Apply a variety of highly specialized casts and plaster casts. Apply a variety of equipment such as Balkan Frames, Suspension Bucks Traction, Bryant Traction, Russell Traction, and various others designed to fit the specialized needs of the patients. Sterilize treatment room using aseptic (sterile) standards. Assisting surgeons during operating room procedures by holding or rotating affected extremity. Assist surgeons with procedures including Steinman pins and Kirchner wires. Instruct patients on surgical procedures and in the use/care of orthoses and prostheses. Document instructions provided to patients.
