This Food Service Worker Leader position is located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the Northern Indiana Health Care System (NIHCS) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The duties of the Food Service Worker Leader includes but are not limited to: Training Responsible for training Food Service employees in the Food Service and Production Section Provides training to lower-grade employees and delivers on-the-job instruction to new Food Service and Production staff as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Trains lower-grade employees in safe food-handling practices using FDA Food Code-approved training programs, such as ServSafe. Trains new employees in departmental standard operating procedures. Provides ongoing and new training in food safety, service techniques, customer service, and Nutrition and Food Service policy. Leading Work Works with employees to plan and organize duties that support work objectives and promote a collaborative team effort. Makes necessary adjustments when unforeseen circumstances arise that affect staffing requirements or operational methods within the service. Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment that supports employees in performing their duties efficiently and effectively. Assists with and participates in quality improvement projects as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Communicates significant day-to-day events to the immediate supervisor and seeks guidance when changes to established procedures or policies occur. Ensures proper food-handling techniques and good personal hygiene are consistently practiced in accordance with established policies and procedures.
