PATHWAY PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. Provides students with work experience related to the career goals while offering eligibility to permanent employment upon completion. To learn more, visit: Students & Recent Graduates.
This position is part of the Pathways Internship Program and is located at the Central Office, a Regional Office or an Institution of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Serves as an Information Technology Student Trainee and will receive "hands-on" training in the areas of network management, user support, computer security program management, and software support for various packages. Performs functions to include: processing user work orders, troubleshooting various workstation problems, assisting and teaching users on a daily basis, adding, deleting, and maintaining network IDs. Needs to have a good understanding of network servers, collaborative software, operating systems, and word processing software. Assists in isolating, analyzing and resolving problems and errors encountered by Bureau personnel network users. In particular, this includes workstation problems, user ID problems, network connectivity issues, Local Area Network (LAN) problems, and associated Wide Area Network (WAN) problems.
PATHWAYS ELIGIBILITY - To be eligible for appointment to a position in the DOJ Internship Program an individual must: Be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate in a qualifying educational institution; to include "qualifying career or technical education programs" (which may include Registered Apprenticeship Programs, Job Corps, Climate Corps, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps). Be seeking a degree that is relevant to this position.
