The Office of the Department of War Chief Information Officer (DoW CIO) is the Principal Staff Assistant (PSA) and advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of War for information technology (IT), including national security systems (NSS), information resources management (IRM) matters.
The Director of Cyber Workforce Academic Engagement Office (CAEO) is a direct report to the DoW CIO and leads, directs, and manages a staff comprised of GS, GG, Military and Contractor personnel, providing expert management and oversight of the activities of the Department of War in its relationship with academia, to include those entities involved in primary, secondary, and post-secondary education, with respect to cyber-related matters. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Serves as the consolidated focal point for engagements carried out between the Department of War and academia with respect to cyber-related matters. Establishes, maintains, and oversees activities that pertain to relationships between academia and entities involved in primary, secondary, and post-education with respect to cyber related matters. Conducts ongoing analysis of the performance of cyber-related educational scholarships, camps, support efforts and volunteer partnerships of the Department of War. Develops strategic recommendations for the Secretary of War to enhance departmental cyber proficiency by leveraging academic engagement programs. Manages and oversees execution of funds and resources for the National Centers for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity program, the Department of War Cyber Scholarship Program, the National Defense University College of Information and Cyberspace, the University Consortium for Cybersecurity, the senior military colleges, and other educational partnerships between academic institutions and active components of the Armed Forces. Directs the establishment of comprehensive requirements, policies, and procedures to capture data and evaluate the performance of academic engagement programs across the Department of War.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position. All newly appointed Career SES leaders must sign the Reassignment Rights Obligations Agreement as a condition of appointment into the SES. You must submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test before you can be appointed into this position. Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required. In order to qualify for this position, you must be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). You will serve a one-year probationary period unless you have previously completed the probationary period in the SES. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see https://www.sss.gov/Home/Registration).
