The Aviation Safety Inspector, Air Carrier Instructor is responsible for conducting training programs for flight standards inspectors and specialists concerning policies and procedures, and specialized training on aircraft and courses covering airworthiness, surveillance, and certification of aircraft, agencies, and air carriers. Incumbent serves as an Aviation Safety Inspector Air Carrier Instructor within AFB-580.
The Aviation Safety Inspector, Air Carrier - Instructor must hold an Airline Transport Pilot certificate or hold a Commercial Pilot certificate with multi-engine land and instrument ratings. Develops/applies the latest methods and techniques of instruction obtained through attendance at formal instructor training courses and seminars. Applies knowledge of inspection and surveillance programs in assisting new and/or higher-level instructors in course management, development of new courses, revision of existing courses, outlines, lesson plans, and the application of Federal Aviation Regulation changes to existing courseware. Maintains liaison with aviation safety inspectors who conduct the Air Carrier Airmen Certification Program and serves in an advisory and consulting capacity on job functions in that specialty. Evaluates training plans for both existing and new courses to ensure the analysis of alternative methods of training is complete and out-of-agency approaches to training have been thoroughly and properly considered. Recommends to the supervisor improvements and revisions to existing approved courses and the overall training program. Applies analytical and evaluative techniques to conduct literature research, task analysis, organization design; and to resolve administrative/management issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature. Conducts on-going critical reviews of the course materials and presentations. Develop and analyze tests to ensure the objectives of the course are met. The inspector applies advanced technical knowledge of the aviation industry, the general principles of aviation safety, Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing aviation safety as well as knowledge of FAA evaluation techniques and specific organization practices to assigned projects. Provides support to the management team in the preparation and administration of the budget; coordination of staff training and travel administration; program management and planning; workload scheduling; space utilization/resource management; security; property management (i.e., accountable items; reports and records as required). Performs additional duties, staff functions, and special assignments as directed by supervisor.
